Day 6 - Ubud, Bali

Monday, June 15, 2009

look at Murni's body language and you'll maybe wonder what is she pondering about.
the thing is. this place is our hotel for 2 nights in Ubud. Nick's HIDDEN Cottages. oh damn it is in fact really hidden. aside from this tiny pathway that leads to the cottage, we had to walk a long and unlighted pathway to this sign board here.. I can still remember the shock on our faces when we arrived that afternoon. but i would say that this is an interesting experience that I may not have again!! we're staying in the middle of rice fields and forest, having quacking ducks as companion every morning, screaming chickens that work as nature's alarm clock, and NO NO NO tall buildings, and minimum technology around us.

we see all these every time we walk in and out of the cottage. too bad I didn't take a photo of the night sky, it's beautiful here! -- but still not as nice as the one we saw at Lake George

the swimming pool in front of our room
the cottage's door. sooo ancient. it uses the wooden latch thingy to lock.
the view from our cottage
the room just fits the basic needs. no TV -- which drives Murni crazy! and making her abandon me in the room for both nights ALONE to watch TV at the lobby!!
the bathroom --
after settling down, we hopped on the hotel's motorbike and drove down to Ubud's town for their famous pork. Babi Guling!

Babi Guling -- the taste is.. very porky. and lots of intense spices. not spicy, but fragrant.

Ubud's market -- a must go if your down at Ubud.

the lady who sells a lot a lot of spices. no wonder Southeast Asia is known for its spices.
we reached Ubud around 4pm hence there wasn't much time left to sight-see. but Ubud definitely made us love it the moment we set foot there! there's something about the culture and landscape there that make it attractive
