The Balcony

Friday, March 24, 2006

Met up with Xien Lin on Monday. went for a little shopping in town.. gosh money spending again. decided long ago to try The Balcony @ Heeren and yea.. it was pretty good. The ambience is good. The place promises a Mediterranean feel and for that it does not disappoint either of us..

Xienlin ordered Mediterranean Lamb Kebab, which had thick slices of well-marinated lamb kebab dabbed with a little pesto and accompanied by chick peas and cubed tomato salad, tossed with tomato and olive oil dressing. Nicely exotic and very appetising as the heady meat provided a sharp contrast to the light and tangy chick pea salad.

Me? I ordered Mediterranean Chicken Kebab which was chicken kebab deconstructed into pieces along with onion and pepper slices, accompanied by yet more chick peas salad and two pieces of pita bread. The chicken pieces were tender and again well-marinated, providing an explosion of flavors along with the slightly charred pieces of onions and peppers.

The dinner was rather worth the cost, considering the new taste and the new exposure to Mediterranean style. The cocktails and margaritas look good, but sigh.. due to shortage of $$$$, we requested for PLAIN WATER. how nice. but still, dinner was enjoyable!
